The Model Manifesto was created to bring an end to the exploitation of models by providing a solution.

The Model Manifesto website is run by Catherine & Leanne to provide methods for real implementation and real change. Complimenting the book, the resources on this website including policies, rights, manifesto and journal provide a way of navigating the complicated world of modelling. Models must know their rights in order to be able to protect themselves, and collaboration within the industry including models themselves is the only way we will see real change happen.

After being scouted at the age of 13, Catherine has worked in the industry for 8 years for clients such as Topshop and ASOS . Having grown up in the modelling industry she was witness to exploitation of models. This lead to her starting initiatives such as the Lone Working Model’s Policy to help improve the industry.

Leanne Maskell has combined her 13 years of modelling experience working for clients such as Vogue, ASOS & London Fashion Week with her legal studies to demonstrate the main problem underpinning the modelling industry: a complete lack of transparency. She wrote ‘The Model Manifesto’, to be published in May 2019 to empower models by giving them the tools they need to educate themselves on the industry and stay safe.
